About Us
The Pompano Beach Centennial Celebration Committee was created by the Pompano Beach City Commission to plan, organize and stage events to commemorate the city’s 100th anniversary of incorporation.
Well over a hundred individuals serve on the Centennial Celebration Committee. These people represent a diverse cross-section of the Pompano Beach community. All those who wish to help with this once-in-a-lifetime undertaking are welcome to participate.
Among the various ways that residents and businesspeople can get involved:
- Join the Centennial Celebration Committee; it meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Pompano Beach Historical Society (217 NE 4th Avenue, Pompano Beach). Call to confirm meetings.
- Help preserve our past by donating or loaning old photographs of people and sites in Pompano Beach for inclusion in Centennial publications.
- Nominate someone you knew to be included in the Centennial’s "100 people for 100 Years" feature. The nominees must be deceased and have had a positive impact on the community. We are looking for people from all walks of life: clergy, business owners, youth leaders, community activists, health care workers, artists, and others
- Help identify pioneers still residing in the community so that their memories of Pompano Beach past can be recorded.
- Make or solicit a financial contribution to help fund Centennial activities.
- Include your organization’s activities in the Centennial calendar of events.
- Participate in the upcoming Centennial events.
